Haddock to retire, three to seek his seat in Alexandria

An Alexandria general district judge and two attorneys have expressed interest in a seat on the Alexandria Circuit bench that will open when Judge Donald Haddock Sr. steps down at the end of the year.

Judge Becky Moore, Jim Clark and Timothy Battle have submitted their questionnaires to the Alexandria Bar Association, reports the Alexandria Gazette Packet. More candidates could step forward before today’s deadline.

Haddock, who has been on the bench since May 1981, announced his retirement plans last week.

Actually, Judge Haddock was appointed by Gov. Robb in 1984 to a vacancy caused by Chief Cir. Ct. Judge Wiley R. Wright’s retirement. Judge Haddock was later elected & re-elected by the General Assembly.
