Fisher to be new Fauquier prosecutor

Jim Fisher has been appointed Fauquier County Commonwealth’s Attorney by the judges of the 20th Judicial Circuit, effective July 1.

Fisher, currently the chief deputy attorney in Loudoun County, will serve the balance of a term that ends Dec. 31. He has filed papers to be on the ballot this November for a full four-year term.

In practice for 23 years, Fisher has had the opportunity for work for some of the best-known prosecutors in Virginia. He worked as a law clerk for Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul B. Ebert, and was an assistant commonwealth’s attorney under longtime Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert F. Horan Jr.

After a stint in private practice, Fisher joined the office of Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney James Plowman after Plowman was elected in 2003.
