NORFOLK—A Maryland man is suing a Virginia Beach hotel and its owner, alleging his credit card’s expiration date was printed on his receipt in violation of federal privacy laws.
James T. Buechler of Baltimore County filed the lawsuit this month in federal court in Norfolk against Marjac Suites and its owner, Burlage Hotel Associates.
The Virginian-Pilot reports Buechler is seeking class-action status for the lawsuit.
The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act prohibits merchants from printing expiration dates and more than the last five digits of a credit card.
An attorney for Burlage Hotel Associates declined comment.
