The 2011 Attorney General’s Cup, the prize for raising the most food per person in a law office went to the office of B. Cullen Gibson in Norfolk in the annual competition among law firms to provide food for the state’s food banks.
But AG Ken Cuccinelli was obviously pleased to present the award for raising the most food among government and public service entrants to his own office. The competition among 177 law firms and offices raised more than 1.6 million pounds of food. It was coordinated by the Young Lawyers Division of the Virginia Bar Association, the AG’s office and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks.
Gov. Bob McDonnell and wife Maureen were hosts for the award ceremony yesterday evening at the Governor’s Mansion. The program began five years ago when McDonnell was AG as an effort to raise food for the food banks at a traditionally slow time of the year for donations.
We ran a blog in May that has a link to the winning firms in other categories based on firm size and the total amount of food raised and the amount per person in the office.
