Snow affects courts

The Supreme Court of Virginia has closed its administrative offices in Richmond because of the snowstorm hitting parts of Virginia Wednesday morning, according to an announcement on the court’s website:

“Due to inclement weather, the administrative offices of the Supreme Court are closed.”

The court announced earlier that the administrative offices of the Supreme Court would be opening at 10 a.m.

Radio and television broadcasts listed other court closings or delays in various locales.

The Virginia State Bar reports it closed its offices at 10 a.m. due to “deteriorating weather conditions.”

The Virginia Bar Association tweeted around 11 a.m. that it was closing early. “Be safe, warm and dry,” the VBA added.

NOTE: This item was rewritten at 9:34 a.m. to reflect the closing of the court office. It was updated at 1:00 p.m. to note actions by the VSB and VBA.
