Dumler resigns from Albemarle board

Scottsville lawyer Chris Dumler has resigned from the Albemarle County board of supervisors, less than a week after a judge rejected a citizens’ effort to have him removed from office.

“I wasn’t prepared to even grant the petition the appearance of validity by resigning while it was pending,” Dumler told Charlottesville Tomorrow.

Dumler has been under fire since a January conviction for misdemeanor sexual battery. He resisted calls for resignation and defended his attention to his elected post in a hearing before Judge Cheryl Higgins.
