Rogers endorsed for Roanoke area J&DR judgeship

The Roanoke Bar Association has endorsed attorney Frank W. Rogers III to fill an existing vacancy in the juvenile and domestic relations court in the 23rd District.

The RBA also endorsed former Del. Onzlee Ware to fill a potential second vacancy on the J&DR bench which would result from the creation of a fifth position on the court as recommended by a recent caseload study.

The RBA board has passed a resolution supporting the creation of the fifth judgeship as essential to the timely administration of justice in the Roanoke Valley.

The General Assembly is expected to consider the creation of new judgeships and funding to fill them during the current session.

The existing vacancy on the Roanoke Valley J&DR Court was caused by the official retirement of Judge Joseph P. Bounds last month.
