An advocate for women veterans, Alexandria’s Jas Boothe has been selected as Virginia Lawyers Media’s 2014 Influential Woman of the Year.

Boothe was elected for the honor by her fellow members of the 2014 class of Influential Women of Virginia. The award was announced Thursday evening at the annual ceremony in Henrico County.

Boothe founded Final Salute Inc., the only nonprofit organization in the Washington area that houses and supports homeless women veterans and their children. The organization fills a need that Boothe herself confronted after being diagnosed with cancer while a member of the armed services.

Final Salute has assisted over 165 women veterans and children and now operates three transitional homes in Alexandria,  Martinsburg, W.Va., and Columbus, Oh.

The Influential Woman program, now in its sixth year, recognizes high-achieving women in the fields of law, health care, business, education, real estate and others.
