Profits are up at Virginia’s largest law firm, with partners who share the wealth at McGuireWoods hitting a profits-per-partner mark of nearly $1 million.
The firm added 29 lateral partners in the past year, and now has more than 1,000 lawyers in 20 offices worldwide. The profits-per-partner figure showed a slight increase over last year, adding $10,000 to arrive at the current figure of $960,000 according to a report from American Lawyer’s annual survey of large law firms.
Revenue per lawyer was up 1 percent, to $660,000, AmLaw said.
Thirteen former federal clerks are members of the firm’s most recent class of 33 new associates, including three former U.S. Supreme Court clerks.
McGuireWoods’ two largest practice groups are financial-services litigation and business and securities litigation. Its Government, Regulatory and Criminal Investigations group was named a White Collar “Practice Group of the Year” for 2014 by Law360.
