Wise County offers drone law program

Listen to this articleA legal seminar on “Drone and Space Law: Let’s Fly Wisely” will be presented July 15 at the Inn at Wise in Wise, Virginia. The seminar is designed to inform the legal community about space and drone regulations at the state and federal levels.
Sponsored by the Wise County and City of Norton Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, the program plans to offer five hours of continuing legal education credit with panels on space law, drone law and business opportunities.
Presenters for the space law panel include M. Bruce Harper of Williams Mullen and Jim Dunstan of Mobius Legal Group PLLC, in Springfield, Va.
A panel offering a Virginia perspective on drone law will include Margaret O’Shea, Linda Bryant, Carolyn Juran and Del. Scott Surovell, and be moderated by G. Timothy Oksman, from the Office of the Attorney General. Williams Mullen lawyer/lobbyist Patrick Cushing also appears on the program.
Offering a national perspective on drone law, a later panel includes Kevin Pomfret of Williams Mullen and Michael E. Sievers and Douglas Kenyon, both from Hunton & Williams. Diana Marina Cooper and Matt Sweeny will discuss comparative law. Speakers for the business opportunities panel are Col. Jerry Wright, USAF (Ret.), Shyam Chidamber and Liz Povar.
