Effective Jan. 6, 2014, the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board suspended the license to practice law of R. Stuart Collins of Wise for two years with terms. Collins’ license had been summarily suspended that day based on his guilty plea to four felonies in the Big Stone Gap U.S. District Court. This discipline was an agreed disposition of the matter, according to the VSB.
Effective Sept. 11, the Disciplinary Board summarily suspended the license to practice law of Jeffrey W. Day of Madison based on his suspension by the Florida Supreme Court. Day was ordered to appear before the board on Oct. 2 to show cause why the same discipline that was imposed in Florida should not be imposed in Virginia.
On Sept. 20, the VSB revoked the license to practice law of Eddy Paul Rice IV of Richmond based on his affidavit consenting to the revocation. In consenting to the revocation, Rice acknowledged that the material facts upon which the allegations of misconduct against him are predicated are true, according to the VSB.
