ALEXANDRIA (AP) Attorney General Loretta Lynch is praising the new U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia as one of the Justice Department’s most versatile lawyers.
Lynch spoke Friday at the installation ceremony in Alexandria for U.S. Attorney Dana Boente, who was confirmed to the position unanimously by the Senate in December. Boente had been the acting U.S. attorney in the district since 2013.
Lynch called Boente “one of the Justice Department’s consummate utility players” who has served in the Justice Department for more than 30 years, including a stint as U.S. Attorney in Louisiana after that office had experienced turmoil.
The Eastern District of Virginia includes courthouses in Alexandria, Richmond, Newport News and Norfolk, and handles a high number of the federal government’s national security cases.
