Roanoke attorney Claude D. Carter was chosen to receive the 2017 Frank W. “Bo” Rogers Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award from the Roanoke Bar Association. Carter has practiced in Roanoke since 1959 and served as managing partner of the firm Martin, Hopkins, Lemon & Carter. Most recently with the Woods Rogers firm, Carter has now officially retired.
He was ordained as a Baptist minister in 2007.
The Rogers award annually recognizes an outstanding lawyer who embodies the highest tradition of personal and professional excellence in Southwest Virginia, according to the RBA.
Roanoke attorney Macel H. Janoschka was chosen to receive the 2017 Young Lawyer of the Year Award, which was established to recognize an outstanding young lawyer who has demonstrated dedicated service to the RBA, the community and the profession. Janoschka is employed at Frith Anderson & Peake.
The awards were presented at the RBA’s May 1 Law Day celebration.
