Hampton’s Judge Patrick dies after surgery

Hampton General District Judge Albert W. “Pat” Patrick III died unexpectedly Oct. 9 following complications from heart surgery, the Daily Press reported. He was 66.

Judge Patrick was named to the bench in 1995 and reelected by the General Assembly four times. Before becoming a judge, he served for 10 years on the Hampton School Board.

He received both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Virginia. After law school, he opened a law office in Hampton with his uncle, Louis R. Lerner, who also became a judge, the paper reported.

He reportedly underwent heart surgery Oct. 3.
