Police: Missing Virginia woman found dead in own home

CHARLOTTESVILLE (AP) A Charlottesville woman — reportedly last seen leaving her home for a walk — has been found dead inside the residence.

Charlottesville police said in a Jan. 1 news release that a detective found the body of 31-year-old Molly Meghan Miller that evening, area news outlets reported . Authorities did not say if they were treating the case as a homicide and did not release details of earlier searches of the home.

Miller had last been seen Friday evening, and her fiance reported her missing a day later.

Police said there was no perceived threat to the public.

Before Miller’s body was found, Deputy Chief Gary Pleasants said police had deployed bloodhounds and were checking security cameras near her home.

The news release said police would provide more details “when appropriate.”
