Overcoming obstables

Longtime readers of this column will know that we enjoy a good headline at Virginia Lawyers Weekly, even when it’s a bad headline.

This week, we salute and send a H/T to a Canadian woman named Marci. Or as her Pinterest handle has it, Marcimarcimarci. Mercy, that’s a lot of Marci.

Marci, based in Ontario, has at least 20 different Pinterest boards, one of which is called “Hilarious Headlines.” It’s a collection of the funny, the bad and sometimes the obvious. There are 343 pins on the board, many apparently taken from actual newspapers.

Here are a few samples.

The funny and/or bad department we have:

“Car hits boy; car damaged”

“Madonna reads her 2nd book”

“Man eats underwear to beat breathalyzer”

“How to make communicate more effectively”

“Illiteracy an obstable, study finds”

Here from MOTO, or Master of the Obvious, file we have:

“Newest residents are from elsewhere”

“Survey finds fewer deer after hunt”

“Body odor can be controlled by bathing”

“Diana was still alive hours before she died”

“Museums full of history”

And here’s to never, ever seeing one of our pages on Marci’s board!
