Virginia Lawyers Weekly is now accepting nominations for its lawyer award programs, Leaders in the Law and Up & Coming Lawyers.
And we are adding a new award program this year: In-House Leaders in the Law, honoring corporate counsel and in- house attorneys working in Virginia.
The Leaders program, started in 2006, honors the lawyers across the commonwealth who are setting the example for other lawyers. Criteria for selection are broad, but they include:
• Outstanding service and contributions to the community
• Significant legal accomplishment or result
• Significant accomplishment improving law practice and/or
• Work to improving the justice system
A “Leader of the Year” for 2018 will be selected from the honorees in the Leaders Class of 2019.
The Up & Coming Lawyers program was started in 2016. It seeks to honor future leaders who, in their first 10 years of practice, have achieved some significant accomplishment or who already have been making important contributions to the legal system and/or their communities.
For the new program, In-House Leaders, attorneys can nominate someone who works as corporate counsel or in-house at a company in Virginia.
All three programs will fête their 2019 honorees at a program to be held at The John Marshall in downtown Richmond on Oct. 22. The “Leader of the Year” will be announced that evening.
