VSB proposes moving RESA, legal aid regulations

The Virginia State Bar is seeking comments on a plan to move state regulations affecting real estate settlement agents and legal aid societies.

The regulations are currently in Virginia’s Administrative Code. The VSB proposes to create similar rules in the part of the Supreme Court Rules that govern the State Bar. The VSB would then seek to have the regulations repealed.

The intent is to remove regulations pertaining to lawyers and the practice of law from the Virginia Administrative Code and include them in the court’s rules, according to an announcement from the VSB.

Details are on the VSB website: https://www.vsb.org/site/news

Any individual, business, or other entity may file written comments in support of or in opposition to the proposed changes with Karen A. Gould, executive director of the Virginia State Bar. The deadline is Jan. 8. Comments may be submitted by mail to 1111 East Main Street, Suite 700, Richmond, VA 23219-0026 or by email to publiccomment@vsb.org.
