Retired Franklin County Circuit Judge Clyde H. Perdue Jr. died Feb. 13. He was 66.
The son of a lawyer, Judge Perdue earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Virginia Tech in 1977 and 1979, respectively. He then earned his law degree from the Campbell University law school in 1984.
After graduation, Judge Perdue returned to Rocky Mount, where he practiced law with law partner Michaux “Shack” Raine III. He represented the Franklin County school board for several years while working as an attorney. He practiced in Rocky Mount for three decades.
In 2015, Judge Perdue was sworn in as circuit court judge for the 22nd judicial district, serving there until his retirement in January 2021.
Judge Perdue is survived by his wife of 38 years, Vickie; his children, Holland, Peyton, Madeline and Delaney; and five grandchildren.
