Richmond attorney John W. Anderson died Feb. 7. He was 70.
Born in Richmond, Mr. Anderson earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond in 1973. He earned his law degree from the UR law school in 1977.
From there, Mr. Anderson became a practicing attorney. In 1997, Mr. Anderson joined what would become Spotts Fain PC, where he would remain until his death. In a career that spanned 40-plus years, Mr. Anderson primarily practiced commercial real estate law.
Mr. Anderson was president-elect of the Richmond Bar Association, where his term was set to begin on June 1, 2021. It was said to be his proudest achievement. He served on many Richmond Bar committees, and previously chaired the RBA’s Long Range Planning Committee.
Outside of work, Mr. Anderson served for many years on the finance council of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond, where he also served as an usher.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Diane; his children, Nathan, Emily and Claire; and three grandsons.
