Best known for:
I represented the claimant before the Court of Appeals in the matter of Town & Country Hospital v. Davis, establishing that out of state medical providers are bound by Virginia law when they accept payment from a workers’ compensation provider.
Helping people who are at a difficult position in their lives; leaving them in a better place than they were when they came to me.
Working with clients:
I feel it is important to give clients a roadmap of how their claim will proceed: treatment, negotiation and litigation. Doing so helps establish realistic expectations and gives them an idea of how long their case will take.
Best career advice:
“Take care of the clients and the money will take care of itself.”
The legislature amended the Code of Virginia to include a presumption for first responders who contracted COVID-19 in connection with their employment. This change went into effect on July 1, 2021. Therefore, I anticipate a large number of COVID claims to be filed this year in connection with the 2020 pandemic.
