Attorney for plaintiff (and city): John D. Whittington, Manassas
Description of case: Plaintiff was driving a Jeep Patriot traveling southbound in the left turn lane at an intersection in Loudoun County. The defendant was driving a Ford F550 towing a trailer, traveling west while in the scope of his employment with a local landscaping company. The plaintiff’s left turn arrow turned green, and she began to make her turn. Defendant failed to stop at his red light and struck the plaintiff’s vehicle on the driver’s side, pushing it sideways into the vehicle traveling to her right. Police responded to the scene, noting the plaintiff was injured and charged the defendant with reckless driving. The defendant later denied that he caused the collision and stated that he had a green light when he went through the intersection. However, he pled guilty to reckless driving at the traffic hearing while being represented by counsel.
