Attorneys, mark your calendars: the Virginia State Bar 2024 Annual Meeting has a new date.

The 2024 annual meeting will be held from May 29 to June 1, 2024 in Virginia Beach, two weeks earlier than the traditional Father’s Day weekend date.

Virginia State Bar Director of Communications Caryn Persinger confirmed that the move was made due to a scheduling conflict with the Jackalope Festival, billed on the city of Virginia Beach’s website as “the ultimate gathering of Canada’s action sport communities.” Virginia Beach hosted the festival, which features skateboarding, BASE jumping and bouldering, for the first time in early June after 10 years in Montreal, Quebec.

“We decided instead of competing for space with the people who would be attending the event, we just moved it ahead two weeks,” Persinger said.

Aside from the date change, the meeting is expected to have the same Wednesday through Sunday schedule blocked off.

Persinger also noted the VSB’s Better Annual Meeting Committee, or BAM, is continuing to work on improving the meeting and that, at the moment, the bar “will go back to business as usual” in 2025.

More information on the VSB Annual Meeting can be found on the bar’s website, vsb.org.
