LINC honors Flax as Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year
Sarah Stanley//September 7, 2015//
The Legal Information Network for Cancer awarded Richmond attorney Robert L. Flax with its Krista Latshaw Pro Bono Award.
The award is presented each year to one of LINC’s volunteer attorneys who has provided pro bono services to numerous cancer patients who had nowhere else to turn in a time of need.
Flax’s pro bono service focused on custody disputes involving children whose mothers had died of cancer. His work included helping a sister gain custody of her brother, helping a grandfather gain custody of his granddaughter and helping a dying woman arrange for her brother and sister-in-law to gain custody of her daughter. Flax also helped cancer patients with wills and consults.
The award was presented during LINC’s annual awards luncheon on May 15 at the Virginia Historical Society. Flax operates a general practice law office in Richmond’s Carytown district.
