Passenger hurt in accident at stop light on Christmas Eve – $60,000 Verdict

On Dec. 24, 2015, the plaintiff was a passenger in a vehicle that was t-boned while sitting at a stop light. There was significant property damage to the plaintiff’s vehicle. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital from the scene of the crash. After a battery of diagnostic testing at the emergency room, he was discharged home. He followed-up at urgent care on Christmas Day because his pain was so bad. Plaintiff missed all of his family’s Christmas and New Year’s activities due to pain from the crash. The plaintiff was referred to physical therapy a couple of weeks after the crash, and he completed a course of treatment for his back injury which lasted for approximately three months. His medical treatment required him to work longer hours which drastically decreased the amount of time he was able to spend with his family during his recovery period.
