Attorney, William E. Artz PC
McLean

Education:

JD, Washington College of Law at American University

Best known for:

Careful case selection and the retaining of qualified, capable experts.

Signature case/representation:

Estate of Eleanor Browder v. Donna Gamache M.D. et al. This was a negligently delayed diagnosis of breast cancer resulting in metastatic spread of the cancer to an incurable stage. Had she been diagnosed in a timely fashion by appropriate care she had a high probability of cure. Mrs. Browder left a husband and three grown children. The jury found negligence and causation and awarded Mr. Browder $7.5 million which included $6.5 million for solace.

Satisfying aspect of practice:

Being able to offer cathartic and financial assistance to patients and their families devastated by medical catastrophe.

Working with clients:

The key here is to listen and gently advise the client about the critical legal areas of their case. Remaining unemotional is important in enabling you to provide clear, succinct and understandable legal advice. The foregoing is our job as an attorney.

Advice:

Over-prepare your case in advance of trial.

Outlook:

My hope would be to see the medical malpractice cap repealed by the legislature or overturned by a federal or state appellate court.
