Description of case: Client was a pedestrian struck by a work van making a U-turn in a residential area. She developed a Morel-Lavallee lesion on her knee, which required drainage and a surgery. She was initially hospitalized for three days, and on crutches for several weeks afterwards. She was young and recovered from her injuries well, with some scarring.

Carrier initially offered a nominal amount presuit. Once the complaint was filed, the offer increased substantially before the carrier had to hire defense counsel.
