Description of case: A 73-year-old man was admitted to a medical center to undergo a heart procedure. During the heart procedure, an injury to a vessel occurred. The injury was timely diagnosed and treated. However, post-operatively the man continued to bleed internally but his providers did not appreciate his internal bleeding. He was discharged home, after which he shortly passed away from internal bleeding that led to a cardiac arrest. The man left one statutory beneficiary, his wife of eight years.
