Odin, Feldman & Pittleman emerged from the vision of Dexter Odin and David Feldman, who left the Fairfax County Attorney’s office in 1968 to establish a private practice focused on real estate, zoning, personal injury, wills and general litigation. The firm’s foundation solidified in 1973 when Jimmy Pittleman joined from his role as an IRS revenue agent to lead the corporate, tax and finance practice, completing the newly formed Odin, Feldman & Pittleman in 1976.
The founding model remains central to OFP’s identity: empowering each practicing attorney to build a practice driven by passion and personal interest. This approach delivers effective, creative counsel characterized by integrity, responsiveness, and personalized attention, fostering lasting client relationships through thoughtful guidance and practical solutions.
OFP’s longevity stems from their commitment to “stick to our knitting” — understanding their role and value while remaining authentic to their core mission. The firm has strategically expanded practice areas to comprehensively serve client needs, building a talented team of attorneys who have garnered recognition for legal excellence and community impact. Their resilience during periods of change has consistently reaffirmed their dedication to client service and innovation.
Core values of integrity, ethical practice, and client-centered service shape every aspect of OFP’s operations, from relationship building to legal problem-solving and team support. These principles create a culture of trust and collaboration while maintaining focus on exceptional, creative legal counsel with personal attention.
The firm’s workplace culture emphasizes collegiality, a value instilled by the founders that contributes to remarkable attorney retention — many have spent their entire careers at OFP. Associates engage in meaningful cases early in their careers, while all team members are encouraged to find their place and share experiences within this collaborative environment.
Community engagement represents a fundamental responsibility at OFP. Founder Jimmy Pittleman established the Fairfax Law Foundation, while current attorneys serve on numerous boards, including HomeAid Northern Virginia. The firm actively promotes pro bono work, volunteerism and locally focused initiatives.
