Years in practice: 34
Best known for: My ability to resolve complex matters without getting distracted by irrelevant issues. Having spent years on the defense side of workers’ compensation cases helps me see both sides and communicate better with injured workers I now represent.
Why I chose my practice area: I began at a large Roanoke firm handling insurance defense and workers’ compensation cases statewide, which gave me extensive trial experience and the opportunity to meet fascinating people and lawyers who mentored me.
Most memorable case: Being involved in obtaining a great settlement for a horribly injured worker that provided him with a safety net for the rest of his life.
What makes me a leader in my field: I consider myself a perpetual student of law who learns from challenging cases and mentors younger attorneys through CLE programs and personal consultation.
Bar involvement/leadership roles: Chair, General Practice Section; vice chair, 8th District Disciplinary Committee, past chair, COLD; former board member, Roanoke Bar Association
