Case description: The client, a medical physician, was a passenger in a vehicle that was in a T-bone collision. The client was transported to the hospital and diagnosed with a sternal fracture, a displaced fracture of the right index finger and a laceration to a branch of the superficial radial nerve on her hand. She underwent surgery to repair the fractured hand using a plate and screws, and surgeons also repaired the damaged nerve. Despite treatment, she continued to experience numbness and sensory issues. A second surgery was later required to remove orthopedic hardware.

The case resolved for the defendant’s full $250,000 liability policy limits, along with the policy limits of additional $250,000 in underinsured motorist coverage.
