An administrator for the Marks & Harrison law firm has been sentenced to four years in prison for stealing thousands over an eight-year period.

The thefts reportedly took place at the same time that a former Marks & Harrison partner embezzled thousands by pocketing fees from Social Security disability cases.

Sandra Heilman Bowe, the former payroll and benefits administrator, was convicted of stealing $333,038 over eight years, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Chesterfield County authorities said Bowe would issue checks to herself and use a company signature stamp to authorize payment. She allegedly used the money to remodel her home and install a swimming pool.

Circuit Judge Frederick G. Rockwell Jr. sentenced Bowe to 50 years with all but four years suspended.

Marks & Harrison also was victimized by former lawyer Kyle C. Leftwich who failed to report her fees from Social Security cases. The firm’s loss was between $630,000 and $800,000 a partner reported in 2015.

Leftwich was sentenced to three years in prison and surrendered her law license in 2011. Entering prison in 2013, she was allowed early release in 2015 to care for her children.
