The University of Richmond will host the Virginia State Bar Attorney General debate between incumbent Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares and his Democratic challenger, former Del. Jay Jones.
In a Sept. 4 announcement from the VSB, the bar confirmed that the debate will be held on Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. at the University of Richmond’s Modlin Center, Camp Concert Hall.
The debate, sponsored by the VSB Young Lawyers Section and the University of Richmond, will be free and open to the public. Advance registration is required by 5 p.m. on Oct. 13.
The bar’s release added that VSB members should check their emails for additional details on the event. Bar members are also invited to submit questions for Jones and Miyares “that address issues relevant to the role of Attorney General and the people of the Commonwealth.”
Both candidates announced their acceptance of the VSB’s debate invitation last month. The VSB debate was the first debate any of Virginia’s statewide political candidates agreed to for the 2025 campaign season.
Early voting in the 2025 general election begins Sept. 19, and Election Day is Nov. 4.
